For several years a group of Grace parishioners has been getting together on Saturdays in the spring through fall to hike the many beautiful trails in the Grand Traverse region.
The group averages 10 to 15 people, and some of our favorite hikes have been to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Empire Bluffs, Boardman River, and Sand Lakes Quiet Area. The woods, streams, and lakes offer many views and flora, including the rare Lady’s Slipper. Recently we walked a trail at the Commons Botanical Gardens behind the Cathedral Barn.
After our hikes we reward ourselves with lunch and conversation at a restaurant nearby. Anyone can join this group, which more accurately describes itself as “strollers” keeping our hikes moderate. At present, we range in age from 11 to 85 but welcome all that want to “stroll.”
To join us, you only need to call us so we can put you on the list. There are no meetings to attend and really no requirements other than the desire to walk our beautiful area. Please join us by calling Maxcie Latimer at 947-6376 or emailing Nancy Templeton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
