Donna OlendorfFew things reflect the pace of modern life more accurately than a website. And what a lot has changed since we rebranded www.gracetc.org back in the spring of 2012.

Sermons are now videotaped and posted almost weekly thanks to Mackinac Video Productions, and we have also posted a rolling calendar of daily events so people can easily see all the exciting ministries happening at Grace.

There are lots of changes in user behavior, too. More and more people are comfortable getting information online and our number of sessions has spiked 76% (from 7,453 to 13,114) since 2012, while our number of users is up 117% (from 3,889 to 8,436) in that time period.

Perhaps most significantly, almost 30% of our users are now accessing the website from mobile devices or tablets, an industry trend that has driven changes to how Google ranks search results. Beginning on April 21, Google started penalizing websites that were not mobile friendly by dropping their search results lower on the list. Grace has responded by creating a special mobile desktop version of the website – but it’s not without its challenges. We are working through the bugs and would like to hear how it’s working for you.

If you have feedback on the website or would like to contribute an article, contact Donna Olendorf (dolendor@gmail.com). And if you are interested in joining the Communications Committee, which encompasses those interested in print, verbal and electronic communication, contact Erika Shenk-Tessin (eshenk@gracetc.org). We are here to serve the people of Grace and its bountiful ministries.
