Commitment Sunday This Sunday!
15 November 2015
By Dave Eitland for the Stewardship Ministry Team
Some purchase the seed, some have plant, some watered, some have weeded, some have tended to plants, and some have harvested but God gave growth. – based on 1 Corinthians 3:6
This Sunday will be Commitment Sunday, the day we’ll pledge our financial support to the ministries of Grace for 2016. We’ll offer our pledges as an act of worship during our unity service. Pledges will be taken during the Offering time this Sunday.
As you may recall, we started this autumn celebrating World Gratitude Day with the Gratitude Wall in the Parish Hall. We shared our gratitude for the many blessings in our lives and read about the gratitude of others.
Our Ministry Fair allowed us to celebrate the life of Grace, and help us discover how we can find a place for fulfilling service to God through the ministries of Grace. The information about our 60+ ministries were assembled into our ministry guide, which is available in the Commons. You’ll be gratified to see how many of your brothers and sisters in Christ have responded to God’s call to the stewardship of service.
We encourage each one of you to take the step of faith with us, to join with us in sharing God’s bounty by giving with gratitude and joy, so we can continue to be Grace to the community and to those we serve.
We know that tithing a full ten percent takes a great deal of discipline to work into the family budget. Truly, financial stewardship is a lifelong journey. If you’ve never pledged before, you might consider the amount you usually give in cash or by check, and take the leap of faith and “put it in writing” this year. Others may want to increase their pledge by one or two percent. What is God calling you to do today in your giving?
2016 will be a pivotal year at Grace. We’ll welcome our interim rector, and enter into the process of discernment for our new rector. Thank you for being a part of Grace and for your generous support of the church we love.
If you are not able to attend this Sunday, please mail or drop off your pledge for 2016 giving at the Parish Office as soon as you can.
