December 2, 2015
Dear People of Grace,
I am encouraging all the children of God who call Grace home to prayerfully consider their financial commitment to Grace Episcopal Church. Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of our parish. Commitment Sunday is over, December is here, and we need an additional $106,000 to reach our balanced budget and pledge goal of $450,000 for 2016. As you consider your year-end giving and your financial commitments for 2016, I pray that you include Grace Church in your plans.
For the past two years, we have supported our budget by using our savings. In 2014, we used $42,000 and this year we used $23,000. These monies were available from a generous gift from Ann Mapes. This pattern is not financially sustainable. Our savings is now approximately $28,000.
The vestry has committed to a balanced budget in 2016. Your financial support is essential in supporting all that we know and love about Grace Church, including gathering in worship week by week, growing the next generation of Christians, providing pastoral care for those who are sick, serving the poor and needy through the Food Pantry and Jubilee House, supporting our more than 60 ministries, keeping the office humming, and maintaining our beautiful Grace campus. In short, your pledges allow us, the people of Grace, to serve God, our community, and each other.
For those who have already pledged, thank you! Yet, I encourage each of you to prayerfully review your giving commitment and consider increasing your pledge for 2016. A gift of any amount matters and will move us closer to financial health. If you are not currently supporting Grace on a regular basis, I encourage you to join us in this effort by making a pledge. Pledge cards are available in the Commons.
By the grace of God, and with the participation of each member and friend of Grace, we can meet and even surpass our goal. Your generous giving will allow us to plan a bountiful future in the service of Christ.
Talk to God and be generous and may He continue to bless you and your loved ones.
