The vestry enjoyed a prayerful retreat at the Augustine Center on Feb. 6 – 7, 2016. Under the guidance of Parish Administrator Ann Hackett, The Rev. Greg Brown, and Canon William Spaid, the group discerned new leaders and laid plans for the year ahead.  Named to office:

Senior Warden – Donna Olendorf
Junior Warden – Jeff Tibbits
Clerk – Sue Kelly (Alternate – Mike Mittelstaedt)
Keep – Eddie Grim (Alternate – Helen Hankins)

The vestry also created a subcommittee to address lingering questions associated with issues stemming from Bry Dennison’s tenure as interim priest in 2008 – 2009.  Serving on the subcommittee are: Jeff Tibbits, Clare Andreasson, and Helen Hankins. Their job is to communicate information to the parish and facilitate congregational healing.

One of the most anticipated discussions centered around the search process and the status of an interim priest for Grace church. Canon Spaid assured us that he has at least two names for us right now, but he has temporarily put the process on hold until we have resolved the sexual harrassment issues and until Bishop Hougland returns from India in mid-February.

Also named was a Transition Committee to welcome the interim priest as well as the new rector who will eventually be called to Grace Church. Serving on the Transition Committee are: Nancy Flowers, Sue Kelly, and Maria DiStefano-Post.

Working under the playful guidance of  The Rev. Katheryn King, the vestry also found time to create a Grace mandala, which is a geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.

We prayed, worked, and broke bread together, forging bonds to see us through the busy year ahead.
