Clare asked us to keep these in mind as a way of setting the tone for the budget meeting.

Budget Overview/Discussion:
Clare reviewed the budget data using colored pie graphs developed by her husband, Roland. The graphics were visually helpful to compare the 2016 budget to the proposed 2017 budget.

Kerry reported we have approximately $289,000 in pledges so far.  She stated this is about $107,000 down from last year.

The vestry brainstormed, without judgment, a list of ways to work with fewer pledges for the 2017 budget.  Clare will compile the list with the cost savings for discussion at a future vestry meeting.  January is the target date for a completed 2017 budget.

There was a discussion about Ann Hackett’s salary, now that the new rule under the Federal Labor Standards Act has been overruled.

Clare and Helen have agreed to speak to the congregation about the budget and working with $107,000 less in pledges.

Old Business:
The vestry discussed the most effective way of making the National Episcopal Church and Bishop Curry aware of Grace’s past situation of sexual misconduct.

Follow-up & Follow-through:

  • Clare will compile a list of cost saving ideas.
  • Clare and Helen will find a time to talk to the congregation about the budget.

Carlton closed with a prayer and we adjourned at 12:05 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Vestry Clerk
