Adult study opportunities at Grace Church
Weekly | On-line | Engaging the Word
Barbara Klugh has created one of the best on-line reflections of the coming week’s Bible readings. Posted each Monday morning at the Grace website, Barbara gives us brief insights on each of the readings for the following Sunday’s worship to give us something to think about and look forward to in the coming worship. It is absolutely not to be missed. Click here for your own engaging the Word.
Education for Ministry Sign-up:The Education for Ministry (EFM), class at Grace has openings for this fall. EFM is a sequential four year program of study for laity in Scripture, Church History, and Theology, offered through the University of the South, School of Divinity. Class begins September 14 and meets Monday evenings at 6:30 pm through May. For more information, contact Rosemary Hagan at 231-946-3065, firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration deadline is August 15th. Registration paperwork is in the church office.
Second Mondays | 6:30 pm | Grace Jubilee House | Women’s Book Group |
Resumes in September
The Women’s Book Club at Grace is an intimate group that accommodates members according to their schedules and interest in book selections from month to month. We average about 7 readers a month, so there is always room for someone else! This “welcoming ministry” is a place to indulge your love of books with other readers and get to know another parishioner in a different atmosphere.
Sharing insights about what we have read and what they mean to us is the core of the discussion group. We are able to share our religious perspective without thought of holding back, as well as our personal stories as they relate to the book. It is amazing the variety and depth of insight that we discover in our shared exploration of the selection for the month.
We open each meeting with a prayer from the Book of Common Prayer that correlates with the story, share a prayer from Compline to end the evening, and for our call to service we donate toilet paper for the Hygiene Pantry at Jubilee House where we meet.
All the reading selections are made by the group and the book must be in paperback, to keep the cost of reading down. Most selections can be reserved at the Library, as we make selections months in advance.
We meet the Second Monday of the Month at Jubilee House from 6-8 p.m. If you have questions or would like more information, you may contact Kate Wood at 941-5785 or email email@example.com.
Please refer to the Grace Life worship bulletin publication for more current information. See you in church!
